Create a themed poster for a UW Graduate and Professional Student Senate Fall social event. The event was a costume party dedicated to the Halloween and it was taking place at the UW's Burke Museum.
I started my design process with searching for Halloween posters and making a moodboard.
I learned that it is very common for Halloween posters to use a combination of "spooky" imagery, highly contrasting orange/black/red color schemes, and decorative, cartoon style typography.
Since this event was held in the museum, I wanted to use an image of a colonial style building as a main focal point of my composition.
I started creating visual elements in Illustrator, and at the same time was exploring how different typefaces worked in my composition as a whole.
In my first version, I went with a monochromatic black and white color scheme.
The GPSS management was satisfied with my design overall, but they made a suggestion to add more colors to the composition and make a few arrangements for the information part.
The "Sense About Science USA" (on the left) is another poster I designed for the GPSS Science and Policy committee.
